Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz claimed the French Open men’s singles title after rallying past Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 during Sunday’s final.
It’s Alcaraz’s third Grand Slam championship and first on the clay court at Roland Garros. He captured the U.S. Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023.
The Australian Open is the last one for the 21-year-old Alcaraz to cross off the list to complete a career Grand Slam. Coincidentally, Alcaraz lost to Zverev during the quarterfinals of the Australian Open earlier this year.
It was the second career Grand Slam final for Zverev, who also finished runner-up in the 2020 U.S. Open to Dominic Thiem.
More to come.
