Blue Jays’ Kloffenstein won’t throw for ‘handful of days’ due to shoulder fatigue

Adam Kloffenstein will be a little bit behind in the ramp up for the regular season.

The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander suffered “a little bit of shoulder fatigue,” according to manager John Schneider.

Kloffenstein had an MRI that revealed no structural damage, but the 24-year-old won’t be throwing “for a handful of days” at spring training.

Toronto brought back its former farmhand on a minor-league deal this off-season with an invite to big-league camp after trading him to the St. Louis Cardinals at the 2023 trade deadline as part of the package for Jordan Hicks.

Kloffenstein was originally selected by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2018 draft.

He spent the majority of 2024 pitching in triple-A with the Cardinals organization. Kloffenstein posted a 4.74 ERA and 73 strikeouts over 89.1 innings with the Memphis Redbirds.

The six-foot-five hurler also made his MLB debut with St. Louis last summer, pitching a scoreless frame against the San Francisco Giants on June 20.
