Stars’ Miro Heiskanen returns to ice, now considered day-to-day

The Dallas Stars offered a positive injury update on Saturday.

Defenceman Miro Heiskanen took part in the team’s optional skate and is now considered day-to-day as he works to return from knee surgery, head coach Pete DeBoer told reporters.

Heiskanen remains out for Game 1 of the Stars’ first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Still, it marks the first time Heiskanen has hit the ice with the team since the injury knocked him out of Dallas’s lineup in January following a collision with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone.

Heiskanen has been a top defenceman for the Stars since making his debut as a 19-year-old in 2018. Dallas drafted him third overall in 2017.
