Former NBA player Dwyane Wade is joining the ownership group of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
Wade, a Chicago native, spent the majority of his career with the Miami Heat. He is a three-time NBA champion and 13-time NBA All-Star.
Wade is the second high-profile athlete to invest in the WNBA this year after recently retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady acquired a minority stake in the Las Vegas Aces back in March. He is the second former NBA player to invest, with Magic Johnson being a part of the Los Angeles Sparks ownership group since 2014.
The Sky have not disclosed any details about Wade’s investment and the sale will still need to be formally approved by the WNBA’s Board of Governors.
