Blue Jays place RHP Trevor Richards on 15-day IL with neck inflammation

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Thursday they have placed right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards on the 15-day injured list due to neck inflammation.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

Richards has made 39 appearances this season, including three starts, with a 2.98 ERA and 83 strikeouts over 54.1 innings.

Toronto also recalled right-handed pitcher Bowden Francis from triple-A Buffalo.

Francis will be active for the Blue Jays’ matinee matchup against the Baltimore Orioles to close out a four-game series. Watch live on Sportsnet or SN NOW starting at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT.
