New York Rangers, Brandon Scanlin agree to deal ahead of arbitration

Defenceman Brandon Scanlin and the New York Rangers have reached a contract agreement and avoided arbitration, Sportnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Tuesday.

The agreement is for a one-year, two-way deal that will pay the 24-year-old $775,000 at the NHL level. The parties were scheduled for arbitration on Friday.

Scanlin, born in Hamilton, Ont., has yet to play in the NHL.
