With their starting quarterback out for the year, the New York Jets are signing veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian to their practice squad, pending a physical, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.
Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the team’s opener — pushing backup Zach Wilson into the starter’s role.
Wilson, a former first-round pick, lost the starter’s job last year before the team signed Rodgers this off-season. The Jets are off to a 1-2 start.
Siemian joins Wilson and veteran Tim Boyle in the Jets’ QB room.
The Cincinnati Bengals cut Siemian after training camp this season.
Siemian has played for seven NFL teams, including the Jets in 2019. The former seventh-round pick has made 30 career starts.
The Jets host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
