Oilers’ Erne fined $2K for elbowing

Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Erne has been fined $2,018.23 for elbowing Seattle Kraken forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare in Wednesday’s game, the NHL’s department of player safety announced Thursday.

The fine is the maximum allowable under the NHL and NHLPA’s collective bargaining agreement.

Erne was assessed a minor penalty for illegal check to the head at 10:54 of the third period of a game the Oilers won 4-3 in overtime.

The money from the fine will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
