Canada’s Stephen Ames won the second PGA Tour Champions event of the season without lifting a club on Sunday.
With storms in the forecast all day in Naples, Fla., organizers decide to cancel the final round of the 54-hole Chubb Classic — giving 36-hole leader Ames the title.
Ames was 13 under though two rounds, three strokes up on Rocco Mediate.
Tournament officials originally planned to play only nine holes for the final round at Tiburon Golf Club until a forecast of the storm getting stronger led to the cancellation.
It marks the seventh career title for Ames, 59, on the circuit for players aged 50 and over. Ames won four times last year.
The Canadian also has four PGA Tour wins on his resume.
Ames, who earned $270,000 for the win, tied for eighth in the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.
