Florida Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad will miss at least two weeks with a lower-body injury, coach Paul Maurice told reporters on Monday.
Ekblad left Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Calgary Flames after colliding with Vladimir Tarasenko late in the first period.
A two-time all-star and first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, Ekblad has four goals and 13 assists in 47 games this season.
Meanwhile, Maurice said Evan Rodrigues is day to day after he blocked a slapshot with his ankle in the same game and left in the second period.
Maurice has not ruled out Rodrigues for Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars in a battle of division leaders.
