PWHL Ottawa has agreed to terms with its top pick from this spring’s draft.
Ottawa and forward Danielle Serdachny have agreed to a three-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.
Serdachny, 23, was the second-overall pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft. She joins Ottawa after completing her collegiate career at Colgate University with 22 goals and 61 points in 40 games while serving as team captain.
Serdachny is also a member of the Canadian women’s national team, where she scored the golden goal in overtime to help Canada win gold at the 2024 women’s world championships.
“We are excited to add Danielle as a core piece of our organization for the next three years,” said general manager Mike Hirshfeld in a statement issued by the team. “We love her complete 200-foot hockey game and the skill and goal scoring she will bring to our lineup. We believe she has the opportunity to develop into one of the best players in the PWHL and are excited to watch her game grow to new heights in Ottawa.”
Serdachny is the third Ottawa draft pick to sign, alongside Anna Meixner and Gqyneth Philips. She will team up with fellow Canadian national team members Emily Clark, Brianne Jenner and Emerance Maschmeyer to help Ottawa rebound from an 8-9-6-1 season that saw the team miss the playoffs by three points.
“I am extremely excited and honoured to officially be a member of the PWHL Ottawa organization,” said Serdachny in a statement. “I am looking forward to beginning this next chapter in my career and am beyond excited to join the players, staff, management and fans in Ottawa.”
