Maple Leafs’ Reaves, Rangers’ Rempe expected to play on Hockey Night in Canada

Fans of on-ice fisticuffs may want to tune in to Saturday’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers.

Noted pugilists Matt Rempe and Ryan Reaves are expected to be in their team’s respective lineups when puck drops in Toronto (7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).

The pair tangled on March 2, late in a 3-2 Toronto win that could only described as a gentlemen’s draw; the then-rookie Rempe, already sporting a black eye, appeared to reach mutual agreement with the veteran Reaves once they decided the Scotiabank crowd had been suitably entertained.

Reaves, 37, was a healthy scratch in the Maple Leafs’ second game of the season (a 4-2 win in New Jersey), but has played the last two games. He is yet to pick up a point and is a minus-2 in three games, averaging 8:07 of ice time.

The 22-year-old Rempe, meanwhile, has played in just one of New York’s four games (a 6-5 OT loss to Utah) and saw 3:40 minutes of ice time.
