The king is one step closer to returning.
According to an ESPN report by Shams Charania, LeBron James had his first on-court workout on Sunday since sustaining a groin strain March 8 against the Boston Celtics.
James, 40, has missed the Lakers’ last three games with the injury; initial reports predicted him to return after one to two weeks.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer, James is averaging 25.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 34.9 minutes over 58 games this season.
The Lakers have lost their last four straight including the game where James suffered the injury. The team was 9-2 since Luka Doncic’s debut on Feb.11 – including an eight game winning streak – prior to James going down.
James left the game against the Celtics during a timeout with 6:44 to play after contesting a layup by Jaylen Brown. He appeared to be experiencing discomfort as he walked to the huddle during the timeout before making his way to the locker room.
The all-time great has been listed as out for the the Lakers game against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, with James’ next opportunity to return coming on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs.
