Lucas Raymond skated on Wednesday morning but won’t be playing on Wednesday night.
The Detroit Red Wings superstar was ruled out by head coach Todd McLellan ahead of a game against the Florida Panthers.
His absence will end a 191-game streak, which was the 28th-longest active streak in the NHL and the third-longest active streak on the team, behind Alex DeBrincat (377) and Moritz Seider (331).
Raymond was injured Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and didn’t finish that game. He participated in morning skate Wednesday, but didn’t take line rushes with his teammates.
Mason Appleton, who scored the game-winning goal on Monday, will remain on the top line in Raymond’s place. Raymond has two goals and three points in three games this season, after scoring a career-high 80 points last year to lead the team.
Cam Talbot will make his third straight start and fourth appearance of the season after replacing John Gibson in the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens last week.
