Only one Curry will make the Golden State Warriors‘ opening-night roster.
The Warriors waived Seth Curry, the brother of two-time MVP and four-time champion Steph Curry, on Saturday ahead of the start of the regular season.
Seth Curry, an 11-year veteran, did not appear in a pre-season game with the team after agreeing to a one-year contract in late September.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the expectation is that the Warriors will re-sign him in November once they have “sufficient financial flexibility to bring him back”.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., he averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists last season with the Hornets while shooting 47.8 per cent from the field and a league-high 45.6 per cent from three-point range on 2.7 attempts per game.
Much like his older brother, Seth has made his money from beyond the arc, shooting a career 43.3 per cent from range on four attempts per game.
An NBA journeyman, Curry has suited up for nine different teams over his 550 career games. Steph, meanwhile, has only ever played for the Warriors.
Golden State also waived guard LJ Cryer, an undrafted free agent who averaged five points over five pre-season games.
The Warriors’ roster now sits at 17 players.
