One of the Maple Leafs’ top prospects is getting another shot at the bigs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Connor Dewar on the injured reserve list as he continues to deal with an upper-body injury. In a corresponding move, they recalled forward Nikita Grebenkin from the American Hockey League, the team announced Saturday.
Dewar missed the Leafs’ 5-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday and is set to miss Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators.
The 25-year-old remains goalless in 29 games this season but has three assists, adding 78 hits, fifth among Toronto forwards.
Grebenkin returns to the Maple Leafs after spending over a month with the Marlies. He last suited up in the NHL on Dec. 6 against the Washington Capitals.
The 21-year-old has yet to notch a point in seven games this season and has logged 8:45 of average time on ice. He has 13 hits.
In 29 games with the Marlies this season, the Russian forward has eight goals and eight assists.
The Maple Leafs head to the nation’s capital for an all-Canadian matchup against the rival Ottawa Senators on Saturday (Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET). Toronto sits atop the Atlantic Division with a 30-17-2 record.
