Scotties to be held in Mississauga for first time next year

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is headed to the GTA.

Curling Canada announced Tuesday that the 2026 annual women’s national championship will be played in Mississauga, Ont., for the first time.

The event will take place from Jan 23 – Feb. 1 at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, a venue that seats up to 5,000 fans.

It marks the first time that the championship will be held in the Greater Toronto Area since the inaugural Scotties in 1960 were played in Oshawa, Ont.

“With an event as iconic and historic as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, it is getting rarer to have true firsts, so we’re excited to bring this event to Mississauga for the first time,” Curling Canada CEO Nolan Thiessen said in a statement.

“The Canadian Women’s Curling Championship has always been a staple of the Canadian sporting calendar, and we can’t wait to see the energy and enthusiasm that Mississauga and the GTA will bring to the occasion.”

The Paramount Fine Foods Centre has hosted curling event in the past including a Grand Slam of Curling stop in 2009 and the Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Curling Championships in 2003.

The 2026 Scotties is scheduled a little earlier in the season than normal since the Milan Olympics will be held in February 2026.

Reigning champion Rachel Homan will look to continue her strong run of play this season with a title defence beginning on Feb. 14 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
