Avalanche sign F Victor Olofsson to one-year contract

The Colorado Avalanche are adding some depth to their forward corps.

The Avalanche signed forward Victor Olofsson to a one-year, $1.575-million contract, the team announced Wednesday.

PuckPedia was first to report the contract details.

Olofsson was an unrestricted free agent for the second straight time after signing a one-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights last summer. He had 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 56 games during the regular season, along with four points (two goals, two assists) in nine playoff games.

The 30-year-old from Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, was a sleeper pick by the Buffalo Sabres, who drafted him in the seventh round, 181st overall, in 2014.

He earned the nickname “Goalofsson” during his tenure in Buffalo, hitting the 20-goal plateau three times, including a career-high 28 goals in 2022-23.

Olofsson has 211 points (105 goals, 106 assists) in 370 games with the Sabres and Golden Knights.
