Raptors’ Quickley questionable vs. Thunder as Poeltl returns to Toronto

The Toronto Raptors might be short-handed against the best team in the NBA.

Starting point guard Immanuel Quickley is questionable to play against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday due to ankle soreness, Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy reported.

Quickley, 26, missed two games earlier in January due to back spasms.

However, in four games since, he’s made over half of his three-point attempts, including a 40-point masterpiece in a win over the Golden State Warriors.

For the season, Quickley is averaging 17 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game over 44 contests.

Along with Quickley, fellow guard Ja’Kobe Walter (hip) and forward Collin Murray-Boyles (thumb) are also questionable.

Jakob Poeltl, who remains out due to back issues, returned to Toronto to receive “targeted pain relief treatment,” the team said.

There is no timeline on his return to action, per the Raptors.

The 30-year-old centre has played just seven minutes since Dec. 15 as he’s managed a back injury which has plagued him throughout the season.

In 21 games, he is averaging 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest.

Meanwhile, guard Aaron Wiggins was listed as questionable for the Thunder, who will be without Jalen Williams, Ajay Mitchell, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, Thomas Sorber and Nikola Topic.

The Thunder lead the NBA with a 37-9 record, though they are coming off a double-OT loss to the Indiana Pacers in a Finals rematch on Friday. The Raptors (28-19) sit fourth in the East.
