Report: NBA issues warning to Draymond Green for fan interaction

The NBA has issued a warning to Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green for his interaction with a fan in New Orleans on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Green had a face-to-face interaction with a fan chanting “Angel Reese” towards him during the Warriors’ 124-106 victory over the Pelicans.

“He just kept calling me a woman. It was a good joke at first but you can’t keep calling me a woman,” Green said, according to The Associated Press, clarifying later that the fan was calling him “a woman’s name.”

“I got four kids and one on the way,” Green added. “Just don’t be disrespectful.”

The fan claimed Green shouted profanity at him and threatened to punch him out. He additionally said he was comparing the Warriors veteran to the WNBA’s Reese due to him collecting many rebounds while not attempting a lot of shots. Reese has made a name for herself with her exceptional rebounding capabilities.

Green finished the game with eight points and 10 rebounds.

The four-time All-Star has become notorious for receiving technical fouls, fines, and ejections throughout his NBA career. He was previously fined $25,000 (C$35,000) for another fan interaction in 2022.

Green is averaging 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists this season. The Warriors sit seventh in the West at 9-6.
